Whitewater, WI, March 7, 2014 – iCOMBAT, the worldwide leader in tactical laser tag, has been granted an official United States Patent for a removable/non-removable Smart Magazine used in Simulated Weapons. This applies to the SmartMag used in all relevant laser tag weapons. The patent specifically covers the use of electronic communication between the mag and weapon, the ability to keep track of ammo/shots fired, and the quick-release CO2 chamber. The patent fully covers this unique design which truly sets iCOMBAT apart from the rest.

The SmartMag was introduced in 2011 with the irM4 from irTactical (since merged with iCOMBAT). The mag was designed to be as realistic as possible for law enforcement training and realistic high-end laser tag gaming. The design encapsulating the 12-gram CO2 cartridges has never been seen before in the sporting goods world, which includes bb, paintball, airsoft, and pellet guns.

The patent (#8,602,785) covers the SmartMag in great detail and goes on to clarify its use with simulated weapons. “We knew when we designed the SmartMag that it was something different,” states Rick Jensen, President of iCOMBAT. “Something no one has ever seen before. It is one product of many that exemplify the innovation of iCOMBAT.”

iCOMBAT now holds three important patents among others, covering internet scoring and online ranking, SmartMag design and function, and the proprietary design and blowback of the irPistol.
