On the Record: Laser Tag Experiences

Introducing our 4th On the Record With Ocie Mathenia. In this segment, he will be talking about the different laser tag experiences.

What are the different types of laser tag experiences?

TRADITIONAL LASER TAG

Traditional laser tag is what most of us remember. It is a simplistic fun craving form of laser tag normally associated with low light conditions where multi-colored LEDs and black light theming are common. It is normally a team vs. team or free-for-all gameplay where an individual or team scores are kept but in a simple point manner given out at the end of each match. Most phasers are wired to a vest. With iCOMBAT, our Invictus includes a sensor sling that is more light-weight and easier to get on. It also prevents accidental drops.

TACTICAL LASER TAG

A more immersive experience that include realistic laser tag equipment and mission based games. It encourages tactics, communications, and a team-win mentality. The equipment is more realistic in nature than the traditional phasers. Tactical gameplay keeps track of scoring, statistics, achievements, and ranking.

MOBILE LASER TAG

Mobile laser tag brings the excitement of laser tag directly to your customers with portable equipment designed for fast setup at parks, schools, camps, birthday parties, and private events. It’s a flexible business model that allows operators to host immersive gameplay experiences without the need for a permanent arena.

What’s trending for laser tag?

Without a doubt, the trend in laser tag is mission-based gameplay. Attracting the older players and providing games that require strategy and communication is becoming increasingly popular even with traditional centers. Even younger players have accustomed to mission-based games as they are prevalent in online gaming.

FAQ

Can the laser tag equipment be used for both indoor and outdoor?

Yes, all of our equipment is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

How big of an arena do I need for laser tag?

Tactical Arenas: Typically ranges from 6,500 sq ft (600 sqm) to 11,000 sq ft (1,000 sqm).

Battle Quest Arenas/FEC Arenas: Typically ranges from 2,500 sq ft (230 sqm) to 5,500 sq ft (500 sqm)

How much equipment do I need to get started?

Ideally, you should have double the number of equipment sets as the number of players you want on the field at any given time. This allows for back-to-back sessions and ensures a faster return on investment (ROI).

  • Example 1: A 600 sqm tactical arena can accommodate 24+ players. The ideal starting point would be 48 sets.
  • Example 2: A 250 sqm BattleQuest/Traditional FEC arena can accommodate 20+ players. The ideal starting point would be 40 sets.
  • Example 3: For mobile businesses, our Business in a Box (BIB) includes 6 units. We recommend starting with two BIBs and adding an accessory, such as the headband or the wireless sensor sling.

*If your budget doesn’t allow for the ideal starting equipment count, we suggest gradually expanding your inventory to support higher throughput and increased game turnover.

Do the different equipment types work well together?

Yes, all of our equipment is compatible and can be mixed and used together seamlessly.

Do you provide technical support and training?

Yes, we have support and installation teams based in the USA, France, and the MENA region to assist our clients globally.
