On the Record: Answering Your Questions

At iCOMBAT Laser Tag, our team of laser tag experts provide the equipment, support and operations guidance needed by business owners all over the world as they start or expand their business to include laser tag.

Whether you’re just starting to consider opening a laser tag business or upgrading your current laser tag experience, we can help guide you in the right direction.

Some of the most common questions our sales team receives are:

  • “How do I start a laser tag business?”
  • “What do I need to open my own laser tag facility?”
  • “How do I get financing for my new business?”
  • "What size of arena do I need?”

We understand that becoming an entrepreneur or expanding your business to include laser tag can be overwhelming at first but let us help take the hard steps out.

In this new blog series, On the Record, our sales Rep Ocie will take some of our top questions and topics and give honest answers and how to stand out against the competition.

Q: What’s the biggest misconception about starting a new laser tag business?

A: That it’s an easy one - that somehow starting a laser tag company or opening a new laser tag facility is easy and the money will fly in the moment that you do.

Any business owner, no matter the trade, can tell you that that’s not how it works.

Don’t get me wrong, owning your own business allows for a sense of freedom, flexibility and fun that you won’t get being a paper pusher. But laser tag businesses require work, dedication, time and money to get off the ground.

Our sales team work with business owners of all sizes, all over the world. We help with everything from financing a laser tag business to deciding on the right gear, arena sizing and software that makes sense for your audience and business model.

The old adage that you get what you give is true even in owning your own laser tag facility. Don’t worry, there’s plenty of fun, money and growth to be had if you’re willing to do work.

Can the laser tag equipment be used for both indoor and outdoor?

Yes, all of our equipment is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

How big of an arena do I need for laser tag?

Tactical Arenas: Typically ranges from 6,500 sq ft (600 sqm) to 11,000 sq ft (1,000 sqm).

Battle Quest Arenas/FEC Arenas: Typically ranges from 2,500 sq ft (230 sqm) to 5,500 sq ft (500 sqm)

How much equipment do I need to get started?

Ideally, you should have double the number of equipment sets as the number of players you want on the field at any given time. This allows for back-to-back sessions and ensures a faster return on investment (ROI).

  • Example 1: A 600 sqm tactical arena can accommodate 24+ players. The ideal starting point would be 48 sets.
  • Example 2: A 250 sqm BattleQuest/Traditional FEC arena can accommodate 20+ players. The ideal starting point would be 40 sets.
  • Example 3: For mobile businesses, our Business in a Box (BIB) includes 6 units. We recommend starting with two BIBs and adding an accessory, such as the headband or the wireless sensor sling.

*If your budget doesn’t allow for the ideal starting equipment count, we suggest gradually expanding your inventory to support higher throughput and increased game turnover.

Do the different equipment types work well together?

Yes, all of our equipment is compatible and can be mixed and used together seamlessly.

Do you provide technical support and training?

Yes, we have support and installation teams based in the USA, France, and the MENA region to assist our clients globally.
