Major iCE Update Dropping 2/24!

by Stephanie Farris | Feb 19, 2014 | 0 comments

A huge update for the iCOMBAT Engine (iCE) is releasing on February 24th. The update features a new look with the same easy-to-use interface you love. Simply connect to the internet and launch iCE to automatically update. We recommend ensuring your equipment is all on the latest version as well prior to gaming.

New features include:

  • Preset Game Modes - requires a license, permits both ranked and unranked games of Juggernaut, SWAT, Hells Bells, Elimination, Blackhawk Down, Supply Grab, etc. Game modes are standardized matches, some of which require certain props. Assign your players to the appropriate team and you're off! Some games explained at http://waukesha.icombat.com/lasertagexperience/scenarios/
  • New Winning Modes or Missions - The triggers that automatically end games have been expanded. Aside from the last man/team standing and time limit, Team Deathmatch, Elimination, and Tickets have been added. Tickets give each team a number of deaths that players share. Every time a player dies, the team loses a ticket. Whoever reaches 0 first loses.
  • Improved Armory with Sync Check - Better layout and sync mapping. You can see which vests are synced, and which gear is synced to each vest. This makes it easy to oversee all of your equipment while preventing mix-ups.
  • Save Device Name separately from Player Name
  • Improved performance of match screen - loading times have been greatly reduced.
  • Redesigned Match Screen with Scores - New match screen layout to more easily distinguish teams, scores, and timelines. See who shot who and declare a winner all on a screen designed for that Game Mode.
  • Improved Match Timer - Timer has been redesigned and placed in a central location for easier identification.
  • New Match Notifications - Detailed, visual display of who shot who and what is happening during the game, all in a central location.
  • Simplified iCE Menu

Why iCOMBAT?

When developing the Battle & Birdie concept, the team had a clear vision for what they wanted their laser tag experience to be and it wasn't the traditional arcade-style laser tag many guests grew up with.

“When we were designing Battle & Birdie, we wanted true tactical laser tag rather than the arcade-style version most people grew up with. iCOMBAT is the established name in that category, and the realism and range of game modes fit the competitive experience we were building.”

A More Tactical Take on Laser Tag

For guests, the appeal goes beyond simply picking up a laser tag blaster and running around an arena. The tactical realism and variety of gameplay are two of the biggest draws, with Team Deathmatch and Domination among the most popular missions.

As the Battle & Birdie team puts it:

“Guests consistently tell us it feels closer to an actual mission than a typical laser tag game.”

The combination of our equipment, mission-based gameplay, and a spaceship command center environment helps create an experience that feels different from anywhere else.
